Semi Carrying 55K Pounds Of Cheese Tips, Spills On I-43: Video
Authorities say I-43 was blocked Saturday afternoon after a semi carrying 55,000 pounds of cheese tipped on the interstate. Watch video:
MILWAUKEE COUNTY, WI — Cartons of cheese littered the southbound lanes of I-43 on Saturday afternoon after authorities say a semi truck carrying 55,000 pounds of cheese overturned on the interstate.
According to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's office, the truck tipped over at about 3 p.m. Saturday near the North Ave. access ramp. You can watch video of the crash aftermath here, as taken by a person driving by the scene.
The semi was seen laying across all of the lanes, tipped onto its passenger side with a trail of debris — all cheese — extending about 100 yards behind the tipped truck.

According to a WTMJ 4 report, the driver had to be pulled from the semi truck by first responders. He was transported to Froedtert hospital where he was treated for injuries suffered in the crash.
The crash caused all three lanes of traffic to be shut down that afternoon. Authorities reported no other injuries from the crash.

Authorities did not say where the truck was headed, or the condition of the cheese.
