Wauwatosa Officials To Consider Moving Polling Place

Voters living in voting wards 8, 9 and 21 might be looking at a new polling place for the next election.

WAUWATOSA, WI — Wauwatosa officials will be considering measures to change the location of a polling place, and also entering into contracts with two waste disposal companies for 2020.

The Wauwatosa Common Council will convene on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the following:

According to city documents, Wauwatosa officials are considering moving the polling locations for Wards 8, 9, and 21 to the Wauwatosa Department of Public Works building at 11100 W. Walnut Road.

Voters living in voting wards 8, 9 and 21 have traditionally cast their ballots at the San Camillo - O'Donnell Room at 10200 W. Blue Mound Road. The move would put the new polling place about two miles northwest of the current polling place.

Extending Contract For Trash Collection

Officials in Wauwatosa are expecting to begin hauling trash in 2021, however before that can happen, they need to hire firms for one more year to pick up both trash and recycling.

According to city documents, officials are recommending they extend the contract of their current trash collection company - Advanced Disposal - for one more year. The extension would include refuse pickup and running the city's transfer station.

After a competitive bidding process, Wauwatosa officials are recommending the city go with a Republic Services to collect recycling materials.
