Wisconsin 2020 Primary Election Results: Ramón Currently Leading

Milwaukee County Register of Deeds incumbent Ramón faces off in contested race against longtime County Supervisor Weishan.

MILWAUKEE COUNTY, WI— Milwaukee County Register of Deeds incumbent Israel Ramón is currently leading the race with 24,690 votes and his opponent, Milwaukee County Supervisor John Weishan has 13, 702 votes with 95 percent reporting (454 of 478 precincts) results.

Ramón is seeking a second term after being appointed in May 2019 by Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers. He is running for a full term and faced Milwaukee County Supervisor John Weishan in Tuesday's partisan primary.

Prior to Ramón's appointment, the office had been raided by the FBI for alleged criminal wrongdoing by the prior Register of Deeds.

Since his appointment, Ramón has begun the process of reforming the office, according to his campaign website.

Ramón collaborated with the County Treasurer and Comptroller as well as Corporation Counsel to make sure that the office is complying with all fiscal and legal obligations in its operations.

Ramón is a lifelong Democrat. Prior to being appointed Register of Deeds, he was a partner in public sector labor and injury law firms.

John F. Weishan, Jr. was elected County Supervisor in April of 2000 and re-elected in 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2018, according to the Milwaukee County Supervisors website.

Weishan is a life-long resident of West Allis and is a graduate of West Milwaukee High School. Before serving on the County Board, he served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps from 1991 to 1995.

Weishan serves as Chair of the Committee on Transportation, Public Works & Transit, and also serves as a member of the Economic and Community Development Committee.
