Back-to-Back Champs: Dominican Retains State Title
The Dominican boys basketball team clinched its second consecutive state title and its first under coach Derek Berger.

The Dominican Knights have done it again.
With a 57-44 win over Auburndale Saturday, the Dominican Knights have won the Division 4 state basketball title for the second year in a row. In his first year as coach, Derek Berger was able to lead the boys to a coaching milestone that many high school coaches never get to experience.
Senior Duane Wilson scored 26 points, including all 14 of the team's fourth-quarter points, according to the Journal-Sentinel. Sophomore Diamond Stone scored 22 points in the state title matchup, which brought the Knights' season to a close with a 24-4 record.

In a post-game interview, Berger told the Journal-Sentinel that it was the best collective performance he has seen all season from Wilson and Stone.
"There's been games where they both played well," he said. "But this stage, the state championship game for a two-peat, they both brought their 'A' game and both played outstanding."

Wilson donned a large pink decal at the game as a tribute to his mother, Lashonda Lever, who underwent successful breast cancer surgery Wednesday, according to Patch's media partners at WISN 12 News.
Wilson, who broke Dominican's career scoring record earlier this season, will play basketball at Marquette next year.
