Bay Greets New School Year With Remodeled Facilities
Students will see new classrooms, more technology and 15 new teachers this school year.

Students in each of the Whitefish Bay public schools will see changes when they return for the first day of classes Thursday morning.
students will be treated to a new music wing, science laboratories, an engineering classroom, new locker rooms and bathrooms and a new addition linking the fieldhouse to the main building. Middle school students will enjoy new bathrooms and a new gym floor. and students will enjoy new classrooms and new cafeterias, which were completed late last school year. Electrical upgrades will be made at all of the schools.
βOur newly completed construction and our enhanced and remodeled school represent a vision for the future, a commitment to the arts, a commitment to all learners, state-of-the-art programming and a recognition of the importance of technology,β Whitefish Bay Superintendent Mary Gavigan said.

The enhanced facilities will also allow the district to incorporate more technology than in years past. In addition to WiFi being accessible in all school buildings, Gavigan also said teachers will incorporate more SMART Boards and netbooks in the classroom.
The beginning of the new school year also brings 15 new teachers, including 12 full-time and 3 part-time teachers.

Gavigan said community members are invited to see the new district facilities at upcoming open house events. The middle school open house will be held Sept. 8; the high school on Sept. 21; Cumberland School on Oct. 13; and Richards School on Oct. 20. Each of the open houses begin at 6 p.m.
