Drunk Driver Hits Streetlight, Keeps Driving, Police Say
A 55-year-old Whitefish Bay woman was cited for OWI and hit-and-run after crashing into a streetlight on Henry Clay Drive.

After drinking wine at a friend's house, police say a 55-year-old Whitefish Bay woman drove into a streetlight and continued driving back to her Woodburn Street home.
Police were tipped off to the hit-and-run accident on Marlborough Drive and Henry Clay Drive at 6:19 p.m. on April 2. After hitting a streetlight at that intersection, she drove onto the front lawn of a home at the northeast corner of the intersection and continued to drive east to her home on Woodburn Street. By running her license plate, police found the woman's address and met her at her house.
Police found the vehicle in the driveway with damage to the front passenger side. The woman appeared unsteady on her feet, and admitted she had been drinking wine at a friend's house on Kent Avenue, according to the police report. Police also detected the smell of mouthwash, which she hoped would mask the smell of wine on her breath.
