CONCUSSION INFORMATION (PART 2): If an athlete suffers a concussion, the clearance to return to play will be based on symptoms, ability to complete the BESS (a balance/proprioception test), exertional exercise testing and memory/cognitive skills testing. Any concussed athlete MUST be totally SYMPTOM-FREE for at least 7 days before returning to full activity. The ImPact testing is a great assessment tool to get an idea where the athlete is now and a decent tool around 5-7 days of symptom-free, but is it not the tool used to determine when an athlete may return to play. Any athlete interested in the ImPact testing should stop in the athletic training room any day M-F, 3-6 PM to schedule a test. The $10 check, made payable to Aurora Health Care, may be brought in the day of the test.
