Duke Pride Roundup: Pool Fundraiser Under Way
Also, mark your calendars for Friday's girls basketball showdown with Nicolet.
Here is the Duke Pride roundup of athletics and activities at Whitefish Bay High School, courtesy of Athletic Director John Gustavson:
SWIMMING POOL RENOVATION: From the late 1960s until the late 1990s, the Whitefish Bay High School swimming pool was one of the best swim facilities in the state of Wisconsin. Unfortunately, due to changes in safety requirements, the pool has become obsolete in its ability to host competitions as all races must now start in the water. A $200,000 fundraising campaign has been launched to fund renovations which will return the pool to its stature as one of the best facilities in the state. A very generous $50,000 matching donation has already been received, meaning a $50 donation will result in a $100 impact on the fundraiser.
GIRLS BASKETBALL: The eyes of the girls basketball world will be on Nicolet this Friday night as undefeated Whitefish Bay, state-ranked No. 3 in Division 2, visits undefeated Nicolet, state-ranked No. 2 in Division 1, for a 7:30 showdown.

DEBATE TEAM: Senior debate team member Nathan Lafrombois has made school history by becoming Whitefish Bay Debate's first-ever qualifier to the NCFL Nationals in Baltimore in Lincoln Douglas Debate. Nathan will join members of the forensics team who qualify in March to compete for the national championships against students from nearly every state. Congratulations are in order to Nathan for his hard work.
SKI TEAM: In the Giant Slalom ski race at Sunburst Sunday, senior captain Ellie Sato finished in first place by .09 seconds which qualified her for the state meet in February. Coupled with strong performances from Greta Jochem and Sarah Kubly, the girls varsity finished in third place overall. Matt Frick, Lewis Zwieflehofer, and Peter Quaintance led the boys varsity skiers to a third-place finish. Way to go Blue Dukes skiers! .
