Duke Pride Roundup: Ski Teams Take Third in First Competition

Girls basketball remains unbeaten and ranked fourth in state.

Here is a roundup of athletics and activities at Whitefish Bay High School, courtesy of Athletic Director John Gustavson:

SKI TEAM: Congratulations to the girls and boys varsity teams on their third-place finishes in their first Giant Slalom competition last week at Sunburst. Ellie Sato earned a third-place medal for her individual performance. This week the teams will compete on Wednesday at Alpine Valley and on Sunday at Sunburst.

GYMNASTICS/WRESTLING: Both squads have non-conference home meets this Thursday. The gymnastics team will host Westosha Central starting at 6:30 with the wrestlers hosting Milwaukee Riverside with an estimated varsity start time of around 7p.m.

GIRLS BASKETBALL: The squad has two home games this week with 7:30 p.m. start times. On Tuesday, Brookfield East visits and on Friday, Homestead visits. The team remains undefeated and ranked fourth in the state in Division 2.

BOYS BASKETBALL: Coming off of victories last Friday and Saturday, the team is on the road at Marquette on Tuesday and at Homestead on Friday for 7:30 p.m. start times. Please note the frosh games start at 4:15 both days.

HOCKEY: The skaters will compete in the “North Shore tournament” this week with games every night, Monday through Thursday, at Ozaukee Ice Center. All games start at 6:00 and the opponents in order will be Grafton, Germantown, Cedarburg and Homestead.

NEW BOYS TRACK COACH: Whitefish Bay High School physical education teacher Ashley Pletzer will be the new varsity boys track coach this spring. There is now an opening for a long jump/triple jump/hurdles assistant coach in the boys’ program. Please contact Coach Pletzer or AD John Gustavson for more information.
