Fallen Tree Blocks Lake Drive

Whitefish Bay police routed traffic away from a rotten tree that fell on Lake Drive, just north of Henry Clay Drive.

The leaves have bloomed into their vibrant autumn colors, but on Lake Drive, one tree looked a little more fallen than the rest.

Around 1:45 p.m. Thursday, a tall, old tree that looked to be rotten on the inside fell across the stretch of Lake Drive just north of Pandl's Whitefish Bay Inn and Henry Clay Drive. Whitefish Bay police re-routed traffic away from the mess until Department of Public Works crews could chop it up and run it through the wood chipper.

A clerk at the Whitefish Bay Police Department said the toppling of the tree was completely natural and was not caused by a vehicle collision. Nobody was injured by the tree's tumble.
