Girls Cross Country Team Headed to State

The girls team won sectionals Saturday morning, and Whitefish Bay's Nick Gomoll finished second to advance to the state meet.

The Whitefish Bay girls cross country team won the Marquette University High School sectional race at Washington Park Saturday morning, and will now start training for the WIAA Division 1 state meet in Wisconsin Rapids on Saturday, Oct. 27.

The girls' times and places are as follows:

  • Hannah Lyons, 2nd place, 15:48
  • Reilly Koch, 4th place, 15:59
  • Sara Coffey, 5th place, 16:01
  • Haleigh Morton, 6th place, 16:01
  • Claire Heltzen, 7th place, 16:12
  • Jessica O'Neill, 19th place, 16:51
  • Lina Schaefer, 25th place, 17:12

Whitefish Bay's Nate Gomoll will also be headed to the state meet after finishing second in Saturday's sectional meet. Overall, the boys team came in third behind first-place Marquette and second-place Nathan Hale.
