Girl's First Walk To School Marked By Suspicious Man: Report

A 10-year-old girl walked home from school for the first time and reported that a man was following her for several blocks.

WHITEFISH BAY, WI — Police in Whitefish Bay say a 10-year-old girl's first walk to school was marked by a suspicious man who followed her as she went on her way.

Authorities in Whitefish Bay say they were called to Cumberland School on Friday, Oct. 4 to speak with a 10-year-old student over a suspicious incident.

According to police, the 10-year-old girl walked home from school for the first time, and reported that a man was following her for several blocks.

Police said the girl told a police officer that she walked across the Cahill baseball field, and that the man appeared to pick up his pace. The 10-year-old girl told the officer that she began to run and the man turned and ran away. The man did not talk to the girl or touch the girl, police said.

When Whitefish Bay police talked further with the girl, she provided a general description of an older white man, and no description of a vehicle.

Police in Whitefish Bay say they have had no other reports of this type of behavior, though will have more police squads in the area as a preventative measure.
