Hit And Run: Drunk Driver Flees After Hitting Bus

A 40-year-old Milwaukee man was cited for operating while intoxicated, imprudent speed and hit and run.

A drunk driver struck a Milwaukee County bus on Silver Spring Drive, then attempted to drive away before he was caught on Port Washington Road Friday night.

A 40-year-old Milwaukee man was driving westbound in the 200 block of Silver Spring Drive when his vehicle struck a Milwaukee County bus traveling in the same direction at 7 p.m. Friday. The vehicle also drove over the curb, damaging the oil pan underneath the vehicle.

The bus driver said the drunk driver got out of his vehicle and appeared unsteady. The driver then returned to his vehicle and drove away from the scene of the accident. The vehicle fled westbound, but due to the oil leak, was forced to a halt at Port Washington Road and Henry Clay Road.

The driver and his passenger, a 22-year-old Milwaukee woman, abandoned the vehicle and were arrested soon after by Glendale police.
