North Shore Republicans Open Campaign Office on Silver Spring

With the recall election targeting Gov. Scott Walker just over a month away, political organizations on both sides of the aisle are opening temporary campaign offices across the state.

The North Shore Republicans recently opened its latest 'victory center' at a vacant storefront at 324 E. Silver Spring Dr. The storefront was previously home to Mobility, .

The North Shore Republicans' office put up campaign signs Thursday without a conditional use permit, and on Monday, Whitefish Bay Village Manager Patrick DeGrave said he plans to notify the organization that it needs to go before the Whitefish Bay Plan Commission at its May 16 meeting for village permission to use the space.

Update, 10:06 a.m. May 1: After 10 days of setting up, North Shore Republicans Chairwoman Laurie Wolf said Tuesday was the first fully operational day of campaign activity, and the group plans to hold a grand opening Saturday. She said she submitted a conditional use permit application Tuesday morning.

Wolf said this is the only Republican Party campaign office planned for the North Shore area, and it is the last of the 25 victory offices to open across Wisconsin. In the past, the group has used a vacant storefront at 311 W. Silver Spring Dr. in Glendale, but that space is now rented by Psychic Readings by Eva.

"This location (on Silver Spring Drive) is very visible, and its located close to our volunteer base," Wolf said. "We will be very active in getting out support for the governor."
