(This is a quick note from Bonnie and Rick, local dog mushers): What has 48 legs, fabulous fur and canβt wait for winter weather to return? The answer Door County Sled Dogs β and itβs going to be a long, hot summer. Help the dogs beat the heat at the Party With the Sled Dogs, an open house/benefit for this non-profit community team of rescued canine companions, in conjunction with Milwaukee County Parks. The family-friendly fundraiser will be from 3 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, at American Serb Hall, 5101 W. Oklahoma Ave., Milwaukee. Advance tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for children. Add $1 to each for tickets at the door. Tickets may be ordered on the website at www.doorcountysleddogs.com. The event is a premiere opportunity to meet and cuddle the dogs in person, take photos, enjoy demonstrations, food and beverages, with a total of over 26 different family friendly activities from 6 to 9 p.m., dance to the music of Playback. Guests may win pet- and people-pleasing prizes in raffles throughout the day, including a special raffle for a warm weather Door County weekend.
