Whitefish Bay Cyclist Finishes 24th in Major Mountain Bike Race
One female cyclist and six male cyclists shined in the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival mountain bike event.

Whitefish Bay's Patricia Kaufmann finished 24th among the 171 women that competed in the 30th annual Chequamegon 40 on Saturday, an event some call the "Boston Marathon of Mountain Biking."
Kaufmann, 53, completed the 40-mile course with a time of 2 hours, 45 minutes and 38 seconds. She placed second among women in the 50- to 54-year-old age group and 24th overall.
The Chequamegon 40 began in 1983 with 27 riders. This year, 1,785 riders pedaled the 40 miles from Hayward to the finish at Telemark Resort in Cable, Wis. You can see all the race results on the festival website.

Here's how Whitefish Bay's male competitors fared in the field of 1,483 cyclists:
- Trevor Russell, 02:32:52.5, finished 38th among 45- through 49-year-old men and and 224th overall.
- Rob Brugman, 02:50:24.2, finished 105th among 35- through 39-year-old men.
- Graham Moran, 02:57:18.0, finished 144th among 40- through 44-year-old men.
- Anthony Marino, 03:00:19.0, finished 153rd among 40- through 44-year-old men.
- Kenneth Muth, 03:30:37.3, finished 243rd among 40- through 44-year-old men.
- Jim Michler, 04:06:21.2, finished 49th among 45- through 49-year-old men.
