Show Off Your Talents at the Milwaukee County Fair

Deadline to enter the fair next weekend has been extended to Tuesday.

Are you an amateur scrapbooker, woodworker or painter? Do you grow vegetables or flowers?

The place to display your creativity is the Milwaukee County Fair, a free family event that will be held Sept. 23 through Sept. 25 at Wisconsin State Fair Park. The deadline to submit an entry form has been extended to Tuesday.

New this year will be Prairie Days, which features vintage activities for children including cornhusk doll making and a chance to milk farm animals in the Department of Natural Resources area.

The Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off returns this year. Fairgoers can learn how to preserve herbs, make grapevine wreaths, divide perennials and cook with pumpkin and other fall vegetables at the new stage in the Cream Puff Building.

The fair overlaps with The World Beef Expo and Harvest Fair, which are both held on the fairgrounds.

The Junior Fair for Milwaukee County 4-H clubs will also be held in conjunction with the Milwaukee County Fair. 4-H Clubs in Milwaukee County will be exhibiting their projects and activities including 4-H Robotics, Techwizards, 4-H Photography and 4-H Rocketry, among other performances and displays.
