'The Hobbit' Opens Dec. 13; Showtimes, Theaters and Finding Tickets Now

The next big blockbuster of the season will soon appear in theaters around Whitefish Bay with midnight showings. Advance ticket sales are happening now.

You remember "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, right? Well, it's time now for that other giant epic of middle Earth, the latest blockbuster movie coming for the holiday season: "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" opens Dec. 13 and it's not too soon to figure out where you'll watch.

According to IMDB.com, the movie traces the story of "a curious Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, (who) journeys to the Lonely Mountain with a vigorous group of Dwarves to reclaim a treasure stolen from them by the dragon Smaug."

The fantasy film based in a land of elves, wizards and hobbits starts with midnight showings the night of Thursday, Dec. 13, with its "official" opening on Dec. 14.

Tickets for the midnight showings are available now by connecting through The Hobbit's official site or through the websites for Fox Bay Cinema and Grill and iPic Theaters.

  • Fox Bay will show a 3D version of the film at midnight, and a 2D version at 12:10 a.m.
  • iPic Theaters will show the 3D versions at 12:01 a.m. and 12:04 a.m. The 2D version will film at 12:02 a.m., 12:05 a.m., 12:06 a.m., 12:09 a.m. and 12:10 a.m.

Regular showtimes at these theaters start Friday, Dec. 14, and multiple times are available to movie-goers.
