WHITEFISH BAY, WI β 'Tis the season for holiday shipping and holiday package thieves in many communities. Police responded to three package theft calls over the last 10 days, however not all of them turned out to be what they initially appeared to be. Here is a summary of the police calls:
Dec. 7
A home owner on the 9700 block of N. Idlewild Ave. called police, saying that someone stole a package off their porch sometime between 4:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. the previous evening.

Dec. 9
A resident on the 4700 block of N. Diversey Blvd. said someone stole a package off their front porch. When police arrived, they found the package on the front porch, however.

Dec. 11
Whitefish Bay police responded to the 4700 block of N. Wilshire Road after a person called police, saying two women in a maroon car appeared to be taking packages. When police investigated the case, they found the women to simply be picking up re-sold items off a front porch.
Later that day, police saw open packages on the front porch of the same house, and was concerned they may have been that way as a result of a package theft. When an officer spoke with the home owner, he reassured the officer that his spouse re-sells items and leaves them on her front porch.
