WHITEFISH BAY, WI β€” Authorities in Whitefish Bay say a police sergeant was nearly hit by a drunken driver as he was conducting a traffic stop.

According to Whitefish Bay Police call logs, an officer who was conducting a traffic stop on a pulled-over vehicle on the 4700 block of N. Lake Drive just before 2 a.m. on Dec. 22 was nearly hit by the driver of a black Mercedes.

Police said additional officers located the Mercedes and pulled over the driver, later identified as a 28-year-old Shorewood woman.

Police said the driver was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after a preliminary breath test recorded a 0.20 blood alcohol concentration - more than double the legal limit in Wisconsin for drunken driving.
