Whitefish Bay's Igor Stevic Competes in Elite Relay Race

Stevic was one of 12 runners on GE Healthcare's racing team, which finished second in their division after Google.

A Whitefish Bay runner recently competed in one of the world's largest and longest relay races, with over 12,000 runners.

Igor Stevic, a lead engineer for GE Healthcare, competed in the Hood to Coast Relay on Aug. 24 as a member of GE's racing team, comprised of 12 runners and two drivers, all GE employees.

The GE team finished the Hood to Coast relay in 19:27:10, finishing a close second in the Men's Corporate Open division to Google. GE was seventh overall among 1068 total finishing teams.

The race covered 201 miles starting at Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood and finishing on the beach in Seaside, OR. This year all 50 U.S. states and over 30 countries were represented. Teams start the race in waves beginning on Friday morning and running through the night across the hilly, wooded terrain of Oregon, then reaching the Pacific Ocean on Saturday.

The GE team had been training to compete against over 1,000 teams from around the world including the other corporate, perennial running powerhouses of Nike, Adidas, Google and Brooks.
