'American Idol' Alabama Auditions Set For Aug. 16

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Alabama vocalists who think they have what it takes to perform on "American Idol" for the upcoming season can showcase their talents in just a few weeks. The will hold virtual auditions for Alabama talent Aug. 16.

The show's officials made the announcement via social media Wednesday.

Contestants can either reserve a spot for an in-person virtual audition with show producers, or submit an online video audition.

Either method can be completed by visiting the "American Idol" website.

Alabamians have had plenty of success on the long-running talent show, including season two winner Ruben Studdard, and season five winner Taylor Hicks, both of Birmingham. Helena's Bo Bice came in second to Carrie Underwood, and Opelika native Paul McDonald, Jasper’s C.J. Harris, Fayette’s Dexter Roberts, Slapout’s Jess Meuse, and Birmingham’s Walker Burroughs have placed in the top 10.
