Girl Chews Through Restraints, Escapes Kidnapping In Alabama: Sheriff
The 12-year-old girl was found walking on the road near where she was held. Police have arrested Jose Reyes, who is charged with kidnapping.
A 12-year-old girl who was kidnapped and held in an Alabama mobile home chewed through her restraints and was found by police Monday morning, according to Tallapoosa County Sheriff Jimmy Abbett.
A passerby found the girl walking alone along County Road 34 near the mobile home around 8:30 a.m. Monday and contacted law enforcement.
The girl received medical attention and is "safe now," according to Abbett. Authorities are not releasing the girl's identity and declined to reveal whether the girls' family had been informed.

"She's a hero," Abbett said.
Police arrested Jose Reyes, the owner of the home, Monday night in Auburn and charged him with first-degree kidnapping. Authorities later found two decomposed bodies in the home, according to Abbett. It is unclear how long the bodies had been there.

In addition to the kidnapping, Reyes is facing multiple counts of capital murder, and more charges are expected as a result of the investigation, according to District Attorney Jeremy Duerr.
The identity of the bodies are pending identification at the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, Abbett said.
The girl was tied to a bedpost for nearly a week, during which time she was assaulted and drugged with alcohol, according to WSFA.
Reyes is in custody at Tallapoosa County Jail awaiting bond hearings, according to Abbett.
