Vaccinations Up In Alabama, State Passes 35 Percent
Alabama administered 94,290 vaccine doses of the COVID-19 vaccine during the week ending Saturday, Aug. 7.
MONTGOMERY, AL — After lingering below the 35 percent vaccination rate for months, Alabama administered 94,290 vaccine doses of the COVID-19 vaccine during the week ending Saturday. This means 35 percent of Alabama’s total population is now fully vaccinated, yet the state remains last in the nation in vaccine percentage.
The Alabama Department of Public Health reported that Friday the state administered 18,824 doses of the vaccine — the highest number of doses in a single day since May.

- Lowndes County: 39.1 percent
- Madison County: 38.4 percent
- Bullock County: 38.3 percent
- Perry County: 38. 1 percent
- Jefferson County: 37.9 percent
Alabama reported 3,851 new cases of the virus Wednesday, and has posted a 7-day average of 3,355 cases. Put into perspective, just a month ago the 7-day average was 472 new cases per day.
