4 Homicides In 3 Days: Birmingham Sees Another Deadly Weekend
The Birmingham Police Department is investigating four separate homicides that occurred between Friday and Monday.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — In what has become an unfortunate trend in Birmingham recently, police are investigating multiple homicides that occurred over the weekend. Four victims were shot to death in separate incidents between Friday afternoon and early Monday morning.
Just before 1:30 p.m. Friday an officer was on patrol and heard gunshots near the 900 block of 47th
Street North. The officer was directed by Shot Spotter to an apartment building where he found 22-year-old Marquis Antone Black Jr. of Fairfield dead in the courtyard of the apartment complex.

Just before 1 a.m. Saturday, North Precinct officers were called to the Tru-Riders Motorcycle Club at 905 Reverend Abraham Woods Jr. Blvd. for a shooting report. When officers arrived, they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. First responders took her to UAB Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
At the same time, an officer was at Birmingham Police Department headquarters when they heard a nearby crash, police said. Officers found the vehicle in the 1700 block of First Avenue North. The driver, who was also shot, had crashed into two parked cars, according to police.

The driver, later identified as Navari D. Jones, 38, of Bessemer, was pronounced dead at the scene.
About four hours later, officers arrived at Forest Hills Apartment Complex in west Birmingham to find two men suffering from gunshot wounds. The preliminary investigation suggests that the two men were arguing over a relationship with a woman when the conflict escalated into gunfire.
Nadarrius Lewis, 28, was fatally wounded while the other victim was taken to UAB Hospital where he is expected to recover,
Just before 2 a.m. Monday, North Precinct officers were dispatched to Interstate 65 North near the Finley Boulevard Exit on report of a person shot. Officers found a Silver Chevrolet Trax in the emergency lane on the left side of the interstate, with a Hispanic adult male inside of the vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced the victim dead on the scene.
