Birmingham Man Shot In Altercation With Brother

A man has been wounded by a gunshot in Birmingham following an altercation with his brother.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A man was wounded by a gunshot in Birmingham following an altercation with his brother. The victim, whose name and age have not yet been made available, was shot around 9:30 a.m. Friday morning in the brothers' apartment on Fourth Court West.

Officers who were nearby for the Magic City Classic responded to the scene after neighbors said they heard multiple shots fired in the Elyton Village public housing unit.

Authorities said that the victim appeared to have fled the seen after being struck, leaving a blood trail in the neighborhood as he looked for help. A shell casing located outside of the apartment led police to believe the shooter followed his brother outside.

The victim was taken to UAB hospital in a private vehicle, though police are unsure who took the victim to the hospital. The victim sustained two wounds in his arm and upper side that authorities are not certain is the result of one or two gunshots.

Police questioned both the female cousin of the brothers who was at the apartment and their mother, who arrived at the scene later. Neither women were able or willing to give information.
