Birmingham Mayor Names City's First LGBTQ Liaison

Josh Coleman will start his new LGBTQ liaison job on June 25.

BIRMINGHAM, AL - Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin named the city's first LGBTQ liaison on Sunday at PrideFest.

Josh Coleman will start his new role on June 25. He currently works as vice president of Central Alabama Pride.

Woodfin posted this statement on the city's Facebook page.

"I’m proud to announce that I have appointed Josh Coleman to serve as the city’s first LGBTQ liaison to the mayor’s office. Josh will build upon the relationship between the LGBTQ community and the City of Birmingham by focusing on the public safety of the LGBTQ communities, and by helping to prevent LGBTQ discrimination in our city wherever it may exist. "

Coleman is the national committeeman for the Alabama Young Democrats and a board member of Greater Birmingham Democrats.
