Multiple Weekend Homicides Under Investigation In Birmingham
Four people are dead in three shooting incidents that occurred over the weekend in Birmingham.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — Four homicides are under investigation that all occurred in Birmingham within a 48-hour span.
A double homicide investigation is underway after a shooting in west Birmingham Sunday night. The incident occurred just after 8 p.m. near 57th Street and Avenue P.
Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said officers found a 16-year-old dead in the passenger seat of a car that had collided into a residence. Moments, later another teen was found dead at the corner of 57th Street and Avenue P, also with gunshot wounds.

Mauldin said the preliminary investigation suggests both victims were in the car when they were shot, and the driver ran from the vehicle after being shot and collapsed.
Mauldin said no suspects are in custody.

Later that evening, a man and a woman were shot at 6th Avenue and 9th Street North. Both were taken to a local hospital where the woman was pronounced dead. The preliminary investigation suggests both victims were leaving an establishment when shots were fired.
"It is believed the victims were targeted, however a motive has not been established," Mauldin said. "No arrest has been made."
These shootings followed a homicide that occurred Saturday morning on 33rd Street in Ensley. The victim, 46-year-old Anthony Jackson, was pronounced dead on the scene. Limited details have been released regarding this case.
