- A Saturday morning house fire in Birmingham left eight people displaced. The fire occurred in the 100 block of 10th Court North. Within 40 minutes, firefighters had the flames under control. Although eight people were displaced due to the fire, no one was injured. (WBRC)
- Miss Fancy, the beloved local elephant who spent 2o years living in the former Avondale Zoo, is being honored. A statue celebrates the famous Indian elephant in all her glory. The statue shows Miss Fancy with her trunk proudly raised. You can visit the Miss Fancy Statue in Avondale Park at the entrance off of Fifth Avenue South. (AL.com)
