Shootout On Montclair Road: Suspects In Custody

Two people are in custody after an exchange of gunfire at an apartment building in the Eastwood area of Birmingham.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — Multiple shots were fired in an apartment complex in the 1400 block of Montclair Road in east Birmingham Wednesday.

Sgt. Rod Mauldin of the Birmingham Police Department said shots were fired around 10:30 a.m. and police arrived while the shooting was still in progress.

Mauldin said two suspects are in custody, one of whom was found inside a home in the complex.

No injuries were reported and businesses nearby were on lockdown for nearly an hour during the incident.

Montclair Road between Publix and Sonic was blocked off by police for more than two hours as they continued their investigation.
