Man Found In Burning House Died From Stabbing: Police

A 33-year-old man found dead in a house fire in the Kingston community was stabbed to death, authorities said.

BIRMINGHAM, AL — A house fire in the Kingston neighborhood Sept. 16 has prompted a homicide investigation by Birmingham police. The fire occurred at 4512 11th Avenue North.

Police and fire crews found 33-year-old Christopher Diltz dead inside the burning home, and an autopsy by the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office determined Diltz had multiple stab wounds.

Medical examiners said the stab wounds were the cause of his death.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald of the Birmingham Police Department said details surrounding the fire are limited.
