  1. The City of Birmingham celebrated the launch of a new Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting station with a ribbon cutting on Tuesday. The station will be staffed 24 hours, seven days a week at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport. The new station cost $12.4 million. (City of Birmingham)
  2. A man was shot and critically injured at a convenience store in nearby Bessemer on Wednesday afternoon. The victim was reportedly trying to break up an argument and got shot as a result. The man has been transported to UAB Hospital for treatment and is in stable condition. The Bessemer Police Department has not made any arrests as of Wednesday. (AL.com)
  3. The Birmingham Water Works Board has approved a new rate increase. The increase is included in the 2023 budget. The 3.9 percent increase will equate to about a $1.55 increase each month for the average customer. The general manager reports that the increase is necessary due to inflation. (WVTM13 Birmingham)
