BIRMINGHAM, AL — Three people were injured early Sunday, Oct. 29 following gunshots on Third Ave. West, including 9-year-old girl. The shooting occurred in the area where crowds populate for Magic City Classic, which took place this weekend.
Around 1 a.m., a man was angered as he attempted to get out of a parking lot near the area when he got out of his vehicle and began to shoot into the crowd. Another man returned fire. Police were able to apprehend one suspect and are continuing to investigate.
One man was shot in the leg and taken by private vehicle to UAB Hospital. A woman was shot, though her condition isn't readily available. The 9-year-old girl was shot in the neck in what appeared to be a "through-and-through" wound, and was driven to Children's of Alabama by her mother. None of the victims' injuries are thought to be life-threatening.
