• Mitchell Boulevard bridge in Florence scheduled to be replaced (256today.com) — Drivers in Florence can expect a major upgrade to the 88-year-old Mitchell Boulevard bridge over Alabama Highway 20, with a longer, taller and wider structure planned to improve safety and clearance. ALDOT has opened bids and contractor Miller & Miller submitted the apparent low bid of about $7.25 million, with construction to follow once the contract is reviewed and awarded.
   

• University of North Alabama hits record breaking enrollment for Fall 2025 semester (whnt.com) — University of North Alabama in Florence has hit a new record with about 10,730 students enrolled this fall, nearly 60% growth over the past decade. President Ken Kitts credits new high-demand programs and says UNA will aim for modest growth while preserving a smaller, more personal campus experience, alongside record retention and graduation rates.
   

• Corneilous Williams returning was a slam dunk for UNA Lions (waaytv.com) — A standout season from UNA forward Corneilous Williams is giving Florence basketball fans plenty to cheer about, as he chose to stay with the Lions after a record-setting year. With support from his mother and coach Tony Pujol, Williams has boosted his scoring and leads the ASUN in rebounding heading into a matchup with Alabama A&M.
