• Hartselle council approves Sunday alcohol sales (hartselleenquirer.com) — Hartselle residents will soon be able to buy alcohol on Sundays after the City Council approved an ordinance extending sales to seven days a week, effective Dec. 21. City leaders say the change is aimed at boosting economic development, attracting new retailers and restaurants, and increasing tax revenue, while some local church leaders voiced concerns about Sunday activity near their congregations.

• Morgan commission unearths 25-year-old time capsule, replaces with new (hartselleenquirer.com) — Morgan County officials just opened a 25-year-old time capsule at the courthouse that included several Hartselle touches, from a Hartselle Enquirer issue to a commemorative mug and railroad spike. Community members watched as moldy but meaningful items from across the county were unearthed and replaced with new keepsakes, which will be sealed again and opened in another 25 years.
