Former Shelby County Deputy Faces Child Pornography Charges

SHELBY COUNTY, AL — A former Shelby County Sheriff's deputy is accused of multiple child pornography offenses. Evan Jamieson, 38 turned himself in to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office March 12.

Jamieson, resigned from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office more than a year ago while in good standing, according to Sheriff John Samaniego.

Jamieson is charged with two counts of possession of obscene matter containing visual depictions of persons under 17 years of age and two counts of dissemination of obscene matter containing visual depictions of persons under 17 years of age. He was released on $40,000 bond.

"We are shocked by the news of this investigation," Samaniego said. He added that the SCSO is not involved in the investigation of these charges.
