HOOVER, AL — A Hoover man has been arrested and charged with sexual assault and possession of obscene material after more than 300 images of child pornography were found on multiple electronic devices.

Michael John Carter, 72, turned himself in to Hoover police Thursday after an investigation that began in January. The Hoover Police Department said they launched the investigation after they received information that Carter was soliciting children for sexual encounters via the internet.
