Tickets go on sale Tuesday, Jan. 13, for 2026 Southern Voices Festival (hooversun.com) — Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, for the 2026 Southern Voices Festival at the Hoover Public Library, including Jon Meacham’s Feb. 27 keynote. Hoover residents can choose from author talks, an artists’ reception, and a country songwriters’ showcase, with most events ticketed and one art event free at the Hoover Library Theatre.

Former BSC chaplain to lead Trinity's new Hoover campus starting summer 2026 (al.com) — A new Trinity United Methodist Church campus is coming to Hoover in summer 2026, led by former Birmingham-Southern chaplain the Rev. Jack Hinnen. Trinity is taking over the former Discovery United Methodist property near Hoover Metropolitan Stadium, aiming to revitalize the 15-acre campus. Hinnen, who previously served at Riverchase UMC, will return from Pensacola with his family.
   

3. 'Overworked, underpaid': EMS workers report burnout, what's the solution? (abc3340.com) — Hoover residents can see how their city’s firefighter EMTs and paramedics stack up, with salaries among the higher ranges in Alabama and only three vacancies out of 177 positions. The wider report explores why EMS workers statewide feel overworked and underpaid, detailing burnout, staffing shortages, training pipelines, and possible solutions like better funding and smarter 911 responses.
   

4. Tennessee lands commitment from proven pass rusher out of the portal (saturdaydownsouth.com) — A standout pass rusher who grew up in Hoover is on the move again, this time committing to play for the Tennessee Volunteers after a breakout season at Tulane. The former 3-star recruit and South Alabama signee helped Tulane reach its first College Football Playoff before entering the transfer portal and heading to the SEC.
