Tuberville's comments, and next steps (abc3340.com) — Hoover residents should know the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission declined to recommend a rezoning that would have allowed the Islamic Academy of Alabama to move into a MeadowBrook building, prompting the school to withdraw its request. School leaders say they addressed traffic concerns, condemn Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s comments as unsafe, and are now reconsidering whether to stay in Homewood or seek another city.

(shelbycountyreporter.com) — A Hoover High standout, receiver Jeremiah Tabb, made one of the night’s biggest plays with a 75-yard touchdown catch that helped the North rally past the South 41-28 in the North-South All-Star game. Several Birmingham-area players, including Thompson’s Streeter, Strown and Alo-Perry, also delivered key tackles, turnovers and a blocked field goal in the win.

Tommy Tuberville, who criticized the proposed move and Islam itself. A national Muslim civil rights group has now labeled him an anti-Muslim extremist, while school leaders and other officials warn that his rhetoric and local backlash are raising safety concerns for students.
