• The Forge wants county, city to purchase property for rehab center (mountaineagle.com) — A new nonprofit, The Forge of Walker County, is asking Jasper and Walker County officials to help buy property for a 28‑day inpatient drug rehab center in Jasper, with future phases possibly adding detox and long‑term care. County commissioners also delayed a $200,000 opioid‑fund proposal for family support services and approved several road, bridge, and jail-related projects that affect local infrastructure and services.
