- A few of Alabama's largest cities may see "baby safety devices" installed at local fire stations due to an expanded law. House Bill 473 will take effect on Sep. 1, expanding the time frame when a baby can be anonymously surrendered. The bill also allows safety devices to be installed at ten fire stations in the largest cities in the state, including Montgomery. (Alabama Daily News)
- Sweatpea Homes, a Montgomery nonprofit, houses homeless veterans in need. Barbara Clark, the nonprofit's owner, has opened two houses – one for men and one for women – with the support of her business partner, James Lovejoy. Sweatpea Homes is only one of two homes female veterans experiencing homelessness can go to. (Subscription: Montgomery Advertiser)
- A Seattle-based nuclear energy company picked Montgomery as its new home for a microreactor assembly plant. The facility will manufacture and assemble modules to construct the company's microreactors. The microreactors are relatively small compared to other nuclear power plants, at only 40 feet tall and 12 feet in diameter. (Manufacturing Business Technology)
