  1. On Thursday, Jun. 1, 28-year-old Juqwarn Hartwell, of Montgomery, was arrested and charged with with murder in connection to the Memorial Day shooting. According to investigators, on May 31, 22-year-old Rondarius McQueen was shot on Folmar Parkway and then arrived at the hospital where he was pronounced dead. (AL.com)
  2. On Monday, Jun. 5, a prayer vigil will be held for the five Montgomery firefighters injured during the May 14 fire on Gilmer Avenue. The vigil will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Montgomery City Hall on N. Perry Street. In a statement announcing the vigil, officials said, "The vigil will allow the community to come together to honor these brave firefighters while supporting them in the long recovery ahead. Recovery will be a lengthy process for both firefighters and their families." (AL.com)
  3. The City of Montgomery's Office of Violence Prevention is hosting several events to raise awareness during National Gun Violence Month. Today, Jun. 3, there will be a Stop the Gun Violence Walk in Gibbs Village at 11:00 a.m., Wear Orange Sunday on Jun. 4, and another Stop the Gun Violence Walk at Brookview Apartments on Jun. 17.   • Montgomery Fire/Rescue Captain Donald Crenshaw, Jr. received a hero’s welcome when he arrived in Montgomery after weeks at UAB Hospital! Crenshaw and his fellow firefighters were injured while rescuing a family from a house fire. (City of Montgomery, Alabama Government via Facebook)
