- Montgomery Whitewater's phase one will have a grand opening from Jul. 7-9. Phase one consists of two artificial river channels for rafting and kayaking in Montgomery. But Dave Hepp, CEO of Montgomery Whitewater, is already looking toward phase two, which will link the whitewater area to the Alabama River. The second phase of the project is waiting for the Army Corps to transfer the acreage to the city, which Hepp said might happen this winter. Phase two will build hiking and mountain bike trails, a rope course, zip lines, along with paddle boarding and river kayaking on the riverfront. (Montgomery Advertiser)
