• Mobile County, AL Commissioners Reject Landfill Expansion Plan (waste360.com) — Mobile County commissioners have rejected a major expansion of the Chastang Landfill that would have nearly tripled daily trash intake at the Mount Vernon site from 1,725 to 5,000 tons. The proposal would have brought in waste from 17 counties across Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida, but long-standing opposition from nearby residents helped stop the plan for now.
