• Orange Beach Police Warn Of Email Scam Targeting Permit Applicants (obawebsite.com) — Orange Beach Police are warning residents and contractors about a convincing email scam that pretends to be from the city’s Planning Commission and uses real property details to demand fake permit or subdivision fees. Officials urge you to ignore suspicious invoices, avoid clicking links, and instead verify any fee requests directly with the city or police, who are collecting reports to investigate. 
• Orange Beach sued for alleged Open Meetings violation (mynbc15.com) — Orange Beach’s mayor and four city council members are being sued over a brief November special meeting that allegedly violated Alabama’s Open Meetings Act and a local notice ordinance. The lawsuit, filed by the Turquoise Place condo association, asks a court to void the land‑dispute settlement approved in that three‑minute meeting and seek monetary penalties from the officials involved.
• SS United States Reef Project Moves Closer to Sink Date (obawebsite.com) — A massive plan to sink the historic SS United States as an artificial reef off Destin‑Fort Walton Beach is moving forward, with costs now topping $10 million in tourism funds. While the ship will rest about 45 miles southeast of Perdido Pass in Orange Beach, local residents may be able to spot it offshore as it’s towed past the Alabama coast.
