12,500 Tax Payers under Axe by Pelham Council for 100's of Millions

Residents of the City of
Pelham, Alabama need a wake up call.

As a resident of Pelham
myself, I am often shocked at the flagrant abuse of Mayoral, City
Council, City Manager and City Engineers abuse of the Taxpayers. We
are being beat over the heads for projects that are costing over $100
Million Dollars with not a bit of oversight.

Over the last few years
they have hidden what they are approving. Right now their approved
method to ram rod shady legislation notification is using the Pelham
Reporter. According to the Pelham Reporter their circulation is 4,632
in 200 distribution boxes in Pelham. I am trying to recognize besides
the Senior Center, Waffle House and the box on the closed City Hall
the one on Hwy 31 at the Marathon is always empty. It seems the
Pelham Reporter is most famous for its use as tinder and toilet
paper. There are only 12,500 Taxpayers (employed over 18 in Pelham
according to Census sites). This means that if all picked up one
copy they are shy 8,000 copies, The city used to transmit in water bills but that was too soon for hearing people yell. Let Pelham use a piece of crap instead that they knew no one would read.

The Canopy at Oak Mountain
is in the hole badly. Numerous emergency sessions are in the works,
Pelham is invested more than what they say besides borrowing money on
the back of taxes. They have also fudged and hid documents relating
to finance of debt, especially when they are purchasing adjoining
property through hidden agencies. What is $11 Million here, $6.9
Million there, or buying a gas station and trailer park next to
Mike's Merchandise without a vote. Oh wait a minute one of these
purchases were given one vote needing approval from Maurice Mercer to
let the Mayor spend $11 Million.

Pelham's By Laws were
basically written for a Dictatorship. If you read them deeply,
Citizens have zero rights to how their money is spent. There is zero
reporting what council members earned, zero what is spent,
subsidizing Ballantrae is just listed as $1 million though hundreds
of thousands are listed as rental equipment approved by council after
they were dogged for Golf Carts.

The Mayor, City Manager,
City Engineer, and Council should be investigated. Ask the City of
Pelham why they are Paying the City Engineers private company
Millions, ask why the City has a separate board handling money that
does not meet to the City, Why the City has the right to plunge
taxpayers into bad investments, City Attorney Josh Allen if they were
involved the Canopy at Oak Mountain did not anchor one of the major
attractions that was the attraction for restaurants and other vendors
that are now being renegotiating contracts. This Canopy just blew up
as well as the promises made to current businesses.

Highway 31 going through
Pelham is still going to be ugly. Tractors, Used Cars, Ugly outdated
Plazas, Bad sewers and water lines. What is nice to look at on
Highway 31 in Pelham? NOTHING! By the way on Every Spectrum Bill
everyone in Pelham pay for Hwy 31 maintenance. Big Bushes that block
intersections? Come here for a foliage hazard! It is $1.25 plus times
12,500 a month, 2 cents a gallon gas, highest tax rate on property in
Shelby County, and least return on anything.

Also thank Maurice Mercer,
David Coram (he seconds everything), Municipal Consultants Inc who
have been paid millions (Owned by Pelham City Engineer and approved
by Coram et al) for failed insights. I would also give a big hand to
Gretchen Difante, Gary Waters, Mildred Lanier, and the rest of the
Council that some sit down and shut up and just have others say
“Aye”. I would also thank all of the attorneys that aided Pelham.
The council should sue their attorneys and developers for not locking
in the Anchor (Oak Mountain Amphitheater and the websites for this
project are being scrubbed) and on the Wayback Machine. Pelham's Ice
Rink, Tennis and Golf have been subsidized too long and now the
City's screw up is going to be subsidized for years to come by the
tax payer.

Pelham also does not admit any wrong doing and says their data is incorrect,
that due to inflation their coffers are up as well. They cry poor,
but they have more money than they had in 2019.Want to hear something
funny? The guy from Trash Taxi and a few others on a board told
Maurice “yeah 11 million dollars is fine”. Go spend it on some
land and Maurice did on a project, and he was empowered from a non elected board. Maurice told Gary Waters they said
yes so they did. This as Maurice is the only vote needed as the
liaison member was empowered without Council Approval either.

Lets Get Rid of this
Council or prosecute for undermining the Tax Payer.
