Hygge is a Danish concept that, loosely translated, encompasses feelings of well-being and cozy contentment. Interestingly, this Danish word is related to the sixteenth-century Norwegian term βhuggaβ, meaning βto comfortβ or βto console,β which is related to the English word βhug.β Here are a few inspiring quotes which further explain hygge: βHygge is like a warm hug.βΒ βPut on a pot of coffee, heat up a cinnamon bun & snuggle up. Thatβs hygge.βΒ βHygge is all about atmosphere. If itβs raining, jump in your rubber boots and your rain coat and go for a walk. Itβll clear your mind completely.βΒ βItβs about the small things in life. Like warm socks. A dim-lit room. A hot cup of tea in your favorite mug.βΒ Avondale Regional Library has created βHygge Cozy Kitsβ for the winter season.Β Beginning Wednesday, January 12, and throughout the rest of this month, just come to the Avondale Library Circulation Desk to pick up your free kit.Β Now, relax and enjoy! Aah, the simple joys of life! Each kit contains the following items:Β Β· DIY Fragrant coast craft kitΒ Β· Packet of Vanilla Chai TeaΒ Β· Color in bookmarkΒ Β· Chocolates Β· Winter themed puzzlesΒ Β· Coloring sheetsΒ Β· Scandinavian recipeΒ Β· Hygge reading listBy Leslie Deason|Avondale Regional Library
