Here at Patch we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?

Because she was the very epitome of a mom. She raised 4 very different people as well as several grand- and great-grand children with her warrior spirit, pure heart, wicked sense of humor, the patience of a saint and old school honesty. She also brought all these qualities to her work and personal life.

She started the Hospice service in our town, as well as did stints with The American Red Cross, Butte School District and Goodwill Easterseals-Goodwill, and won many awards for her volunteer work. She was the Butte Hometown hero also.

Her kindness and compassion was unparalleled in everything she did. She was tireless! Her days would start at 5 am and didn't stop 'til she fell into bed each night. Her greatest role though was Mom, she instilled in us a strong sense of accountability without quashing individuality. No matter what happened, you could go to her for love, understanding and great advice and guidance. She never once let me or anyone who ever met her down.

She didn't have it easy but you'd never have known it with the grace and style with which she lived her life. She was a beautiful force of nature — very difficult to put into words, as it turns out. Anything that is good about myself is a direct result of having Gerry as my mother. She leaves a very large gap in this world which will never be filled with her signature style, wonderfully offbeat sense of humor and naughty grin. I'm not the best at words and haven't
even done her justice in this description, but please consider her in your search. She richly deserves this award and as her children, we would be honored to honor her memory with it.

Happy Mother's Day to Gerry Green, and thank you for all you do!
