(COLUMBIANA, AL) On Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at approximately 2:20 a.m., deputies from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office were involved in a vehicle pursuit in South Shelby County near Columbiana.  During the pursuit, a suspect vehicle with two male occupants wrecked on County Road 37 near Verde Green Lane.  Following the pursuit, deputies discovered that one of the males was deceased.  The other male occupant was found to be seriously injured and transported to a Birmingham area hospital for treatment.

 At this time, there is no evidence that the death or injuries of the occupants are a result of law enforcement using deadly force. However, members of the Shelby County Major Crimes Task Force have been asked to investigate the incident to determine what led to the death of one occupant and the serious injuries to the other occupant.  If anyone has any information in this case, we ask that you contact the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office at (205) 669-3750 or contact Crime Stoppers at (205) 254-7777.  You can also submit an anonymous tip online by visiting www.crimestoppersmetroal.com.
