2 Teens Injured In Center Point Shootings

Separate shootings in Center Point Thursday night resulted in two teenagers hospitalized.

JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — Two shooting incidents in Jefferson County Thursday night sent two teenagers to local hospitals. The first incident occurred around 8 p.m. near the intersection of 6th Street NW and 15th Court NW in Center Point.

Deputies found a 16-year-old boy on the scene suffering from gunshot wounds, and the boy was taken to UAB Hospital for treatment, according to Sgt. Joni Money of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

"Shortly after their arrival at the 6th Street NW location, deputies were notified that another juvenile had arrived at St. Vincent’s East hospital with a gunshot wound," Money said. She said the second victim was also shot in a Center Point location, deputies learned.

Neither teen's condition has been released as of Friday morning, and the shootings have not been connected.
